Resolution concerning the Poor of Truro Parish (February 23, 1784)

[23 February 1784]
AND WHEREAS this Vestry have thought it absolutely necessary, on account of the uncommon severity of the Winter & scarcity of Corn to levy the sum of ten thousand pounds of Tobacco for the temporary support of such of the Poor as are at present unknown to them, Ordered that the Churchwardens do from time to time out of the said Fund, supply such poor to the best of their discretion and Judgment, with such Articles as their respective necessitys may require, and bring in, at the laying of the next Parish Levy an Account of their disbursements therein, with the proper Vouchers. . . .
