Journal Notes of the Massachusetts Ratification Convention Proceedings (February 1, 1788)

Met according to adjournment On motion, Voted that the decision with respect to the final adoption or rejection of the proposed federal constitution be not taken before Tuesday next. Mr. Varnum had leave of absence till Tuesday next.
The Convention proceeded in the consideration of the motion That this Convention assent to and ratify the Constitution, agreed upon by the Convention of Delegates from the United States, at Philadelphia, on the 17th. day of September 1787, and of the propositions made by His Excellency the President yesterday.
