George Mason to William Bingham (May 10, 1780)

Virginia, Gunston-Hall May 10th. 1780.

SIR.

Having lately heard that you had returned from Martinique to Philadelphia, I take the Liberty of inclosing the Copy of a Letter I addressed to you in Martinique, on the 10th March last; to the Contents of which I beg Leave to refer; and as you must have left the Island before the Letter reached you, I must entreat you now to write to Mr. Lemozin, under Cover to Messrs. Schweighauser & Dobree, in the Manner formerly desired, and dispatch the Letters __ the first Ships to Europe, and also to favour me with a Duplicate or two; that I may forward them by some Vessels from Virginia: if you will oblige me in doing this imediatly, I shall have an Opportunity of Conveyance by a Vessel now loading here for Amsterdam; and am anxious to furnish Messrs. Schweighauser & Dobree, as expeditiously as possible, with the Means of getting my Money from Mr. Lemozin. A Letter directed to George Mason Esqr. of Gunston-Hall in Fairfax County Virginia, to be left at the Post Office in Colchester, will readily come to the Hands of—Sir, Yr. most obdt. Servt.
