Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer to George Mason (May 11, 1785)

Intendants Office 11th May 1785
DEAR SIR
I should be very much obliged to [you if you would] inform me of the last mode of the Valuation of Property adopted by the Commonwealth of Virginia. We have hitherto experienced the greatest inequality under all our assessment Laws and wish to fall upon some plan that may be likely to produce something like [uniform? ] equality.
Pray have you heard from the Attorney General or Mr. Maddison on the Subject of our Proceedings at Mount Vernon[?] I wish you health and happiness and am very truly Dear Sir Your most ob Sert.
DANIEL OF ST. THOMAS JENIFER
Intend.
